District Operations – we need you!

Most of us think that Scouting is delivered by the heroic Cub Masters, Scout Masters, and Venturing Advisors that work with Scouts every day.  And that is true.

However, behind them are many people who help those heroes be successful.  We need some help helping the heroes.

  • Unit Commissioners are experienced Scouters who know the program and can offer guidance and communication to active units.  They help each unit be better at delivering the promise of Scouting and doing it well.
  • The Camping Committee Chairperson leads the camping committee, which encourages camping and outdoor activities at all levels of Scouting.  They help organize camporee, klondike derbies, and other outdoor events.  They encourage units to take advantage of summer camps and high adventure activities.
  • The Activities Committee Chairperson leads the activities committee, which is charged with ensuring that the district’s selected activities are accomplished.  The activities include service projects like Scouting for Food, advancement activities like Fishing Rodeo, competition activities like Pinewood Derby and Camporee.  The Chair need not lead each event, but is charged with ensuring that each activity have an active leader and committee to make the activity successful.
