The awards recognize outstanding service by an adult individual or by an organization for demonstrated involvement in the development and implementation of Scouting opportunities for youth from rural or low-income urban backgrounds. Presented to adults and organizations. There are two awards: The first is the National Award, the Whitney M. Young, Jr. Service Award. The second one is the Community Service Award.
Submit the application to one of the Scoutreach committee – Jim Charlton. You can also submit to James Heyward, or LaVerne Spearman. Suspense date for the main Service award is 15 January since it has to go to National for final approval. Suspense for the Community Service Award nominations is 15 February, since they are approved locally.
The awards will be presented at the Whitney M. Young Jr. Banquet on Friday night, 25 March 2016, at the Jackson Center in Huntsville’s Cummings Research Park.
