International Scouting – camp and JOTA

International Scouting
What countries do these two Scout symbols above represent? Come to a GAC Scout camp this summer to find out.  There will be an International Scout on the staff at Camp Comer and one at Camp Sequoyah. See the next issue of the Digital Eagle for the answers and a brief introduction of the two International Camp Staffers.

Jamboree-on-the-Air, or JOTA, is the largest Scouting event in the world. It is held annually the third full weekend in October. JOTA uses amateur radio to link Scouts and hams around the world, around the nation, and in your own community. This jamboree requires no travel, other than to the Birmingham Scout Office, Huntsville Scout Office, Camp Sequoyah, and Camp Comer. Each of these sites will have the ability to talk with Scouts in 160 countries. More information will be coming this summer.
