Passing of Verdery Roberson

I am sad to report that our dear friend and board member Verdery Roberson passed away this weekend. Verdery was a long-time volunteer and board member. As an Eagle Scout he made history as the first African American Eagle Scout in Augusta, Georgia. (see article below) Verdery was such an amazing leader, mentor and friend to so many, he will be greatly missed. Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers.

Mr. Roberson loved Scouting. He was a registered adult leader with Troop 102 for over 30 years and was very active with the troop until his illness in November 2019. He will surely be missed by all.

Verdery Roberson’s Homegoing Service will be Saturday, January 18, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at the Center Grove United Methodist Church (185 Plummer Road, Huntsville, Alabama 35810). All Scouts and especially Eagle Scouts have been asked to attend.
