COVID19 Update – District and Council Events Cancelled until Apr. 6

COVID-19 Update (March 13, 2020)
Greater Alabama Council 

As a leadership organization, we want to do our best to assist with any potential spread of Coronavirus and keep our Scouting family and community healthy. We are following the guidance of the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the State of Alabama and local health officials. 

Scout Service Center Operations in Birmingham and Huntsville
Beginning Tuesday, March 17 we will begin a process to operate remotely for some of our employees. For the time being our staff will continue their dedicated work and will be available via email and phone for questions, needs, and service to you.  

Scout Shop:
The Scout Shop will remain open during normal business hours but that may change. Our local scout shops are administered by the national office and we will update you on any changes. 

All Greater Alabama Council Camps will be closed from March 15 – April 6. 2020 

Unit/District/Council Meetings and Events:
All in person district and council meetings or events will be canceled from March 15 – April 6, 2020. 
Please switch to virtual gatherings utilizing conference calls or online video conferencing. Keep in close contact with your unit and district leadership to understand what has been postponed or shifted online. Please consider ways you can move Scouting forward by using technology.

In the coming days we will send an additional communication with fun ways for families to continue their Scouting journey while children are not in school and unable to meet together. Many achievements can be earned at home.
