Scouting for Blood

Scouting for Blood community blood drive: April 3rd

LifeSouth and The Greater Alabama Council will be working together to raise community awareness of blood shortages in our local hospitals. We hope to have local scouts/parents join us on April 3rd from 1pm – 7pm to donate blood to those in need. Donors must be 17 years or older to donate (or 16 years old with parent permission).

To encourage donations, each Scout Troop has the ability to use the blood drive to meet some of the requirements for the Medicine Merit Badge (Requirements 7c and 10). In order to meet those requirements, a Scout must volunteer to help the drive and can register as a volunteer by clicking the blue button below. In addition to the Merit Badge, LifeSouth will provide each Scout a LifeSouth patch as well as host a pizza party for the troop or pack that has the most Scouts/parents donate. All of the above information is applicable for Cub Scout Packs, excluding the Medicine Merit Badge. It is up to each Scout Troop or Pack to determine what else the blood drive can contribute to (other merit badges, service hours, etc.).
