District Banquet cancelled – Awards still Important

Due to increasing Covid-19 numbers in our area, we have made the decision to cancel the Annual Leader Award Banquet that was scheduled for January 30th.

For anyone that has already bought their ticket, refunds are available at the Service Center.

Even though we have canceled the banquet this year due to COVID concerns, we will still issue awards for both individual leaders and units.  Jim Charlton will pull all awards together and get certificates worked up and signed just like any other banquet.  Jim will then group all awards together for units and put in box and leave at the scout office for unit representatives to pick up.  We will get word out when the awards are at the scout office, likely by the end of January, consistent with what would have been the banquet date.

In order to get that done, Jim needs all units (if not yet done) to submit their awards to him, to include individual leader awards (signed by respective unit committee chair) and unit awards (including Journey to Excellence (all levels of units), Summertime Pack (packs), National Outdoor Challenge (Troops), Service Hours (total hours worked for unit, including Eagle Service Hours for Troops), and Scouting for Food (need pounds collected).  I have the 100% Boys’ Life Awards for 2020 already.

If you need a blank form for individual awards, you can pull off the Scouting.org site, or just Google!  Please get these in to Jim by Friday, 15 January so he has time to get processed before the end of the month.

Any questions, or to submit forms, please contact Jim at <jchar295@aol.com> or call him at 256-603-0405.
