All unit-level individual leader awards must first be approved by Tom Billig, District Training Chair. Unit committee chairs should send the unit-signed award forms to Tom at tomnangie71@yahoo.com . Tom will then send it to Jim Charlton for processing at council.

REMEMBER — Only ONE Leader can receive an award for each den – credit will NOT be given for “CO-DEN LEADERS”. Also, understand that tenure is credited only against one award per program level. If you are REGISTERED at two program levels (e.g., Cubs and Scouts BSA), tenure can be used for awards in each program.

Unit Leader Awards of Merit (Cubmaster, Scoutmaster, Advisor, Skipper) have additional supporting documentation required – read the nomination form and provide necessary documentation to avoid delays.

For the District Award of Merit nominations, please ensure you provide a separate form highlighting the Scouter’s achievements. Just using the space provided in the form really is not enough for the review committee to make an adequate determination.

Nominations for the Whitney M. Young Jr. Community Service Award and the Whitney M. Young Jr. Service Award (National-level award) are handled separately through the Urban Emphasis Scout leaders’ Council (UESLC). For questions on these awards, please contact Vern Spearman, John Cable, Johann Moore, or Jim Charlton.
