Jamboree on the Air 2025 @ Gigaparts

Jamboree on the Air
Be a part of the largest Scouting event in the world. Girls and boys in Cub Scouts, Scouts BSA, Sea Scouts, and Venturers can participate. Once at the ham radio station, the communication typically involves talking on a microphone and listening on the station speakers. However, many forms of specialized communication may also be taking place, such as video communication, digital communication (much like sending a message on your smartphone but transmitted by radio), or communication through a satellite relay or an earth-based relay (called a repeater). The exchanges include such information as name, location (called QTH in ham speak), Scout rank, age, and hobbies. The stations you’ll be communicating with can be across town, across the street, country, or even around the world!

You can try out these activities:
1. Use high-power, long-range radios to talk to other Scouts across town, across the country, or across the world. This is old-school, way-cool technology.
2. Try leading edge, high-tech digital radio communications to leverage radio and internet technology. Who can you contact?
3. Try “MeshTastic” radios that connect with other nearby or distant radios using
modern digital magic.
4. See how to set up your own internet over radio and make calls, send messages, emails, and video chats to others.

This year’s Jamboree On The Air will be hosted at Gigaparts on University Dr at: 6123 University Drive, Huntsville. Jamboree On The Air events will be available from 1-6 pm and additional activities will be available from 4-8 pm.
