| Talakto Scouters, As a reminder, our 2022 District Banquet will be held Saturday, 29 January 2022 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church Fellowship Hall, (off of Airport Road) starting at 6:00pm. Tickets will be available starting at the November Roundtable at a cost of $25. Besides great fellowship, the purpose of the banquet is to present awards for units and individuals who have qualified for one or ore awards during the past year. We will also recognize this year’s recipients for the Talakto District Award of Merit. Unit awards available include: – Journey to Excellence (JTE) Award (must have form signed by unit leadership and commissioner – Summertime Camp Award (Packs only) – must submit signed form – Nation Den Award (must also submit signed form for each den who earns award) – National Outdoor Camping Award (Troops only) – must submit signed form (this is a tough award to earn!) – 100% Boys’ Life Award (note that this award is based on those who earned it when they submitted their recharters at the end of 2020) – Scouting for Food (certificates presented based on weight of food collected during the Scouting for Food period in November) – Popcorn (certificates presented based on total amount sold – totals provided by council) – Civic Service (certificates presented based on total hours logged by scouts and adult leaders during community service projects, Eagle Leadership projects, etc.) They should also be annotated on the JTE site as part of one of those requirements, Individual Awards: – Den Leader Awards – Scouters’ Training Awards (Cub, Scouts BSA, and Venturing) – Scouters’ Keys (CM, SM, Advisor) – William D. Boyce New Unit Organizer – Unit Leader Award of Merit (special forms required) – Veteran Award (25+ years need to get in quickly since they are approved at National) If anyone wants to submit a nomination for the Talakto District Award of Merit, the nomination needs to be submitted to Jim Charlton prior to the December Roundtable. Nominations received after that date will NOT be considered for the award this year – no exceptions I have attached a more detailed summary of the awards and dates needed.
