There will be NO Scouting for Food drop off at the scout office on Saturday, November 13, 2021. Drop offs will be accepted on Monday, November 14, 2021 from 9am until 2pm. Units may still drop off their food directly at their preferred Food Shelter. According to recent research from Feeding America and from the Alabama Department of Public Health, more than 264,000 adults and 85,000 children in Alabama grapple with food insecurity on a daily basis. That’s 1 in 4 children and 1 in 6 adults who, on a daily basis, face hunger and doubt about their next meal. What’s worse, more than 35,000 children fall into the “meal gap”- the space between food security and food insecurity where they are unable to qualify for or receive Federal nutrition aid (SNAP). This is where we, as Scouts, can join forces with the Community Foodbank of Central Alabama and the Foodbank of North Alabama and help our neighbors. This month, Scouts from across the Greater Alabama Council will join forces with the Food Bank of North Alabama and the Community Food Bank of Central Alabama to combat hunger during this holiday season. All Packs, Troops, Crews, and Posts are encouraged to participate in this this food drive to help our neighbors and communities.
