Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation (BALOO)

Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills (IOLS)

What: Talakto District is offering both the BALOO and IOLS courses. The courses are the second half of BSA Adult Leader training and are focused to provide basic outdoor skills to develop and implement an outdoor program. The courses will run simultaneously over Friday evening and Saturday.

When: Friday and Saturday, September 6th and 7th 2024. Check in at Ford’s Chapel United Methodist Church begins at 5pm on Friday with the opening session starting at 7pm. Courses will conclude at 6pm on Saturday.

Where: Ford’s Chapel UM Church – 280 Ford Chapel Dr., Harvest, AL 35749.

Uniform: Scout Uniform (Class A and B)

Details: Participants will camp overnight on Friday. Course fee is $25 per person to cover food.

Participants will be assembled into Dens and Patrols. Additional information and forms will be provided after registration. Please provide information on any special medical or dietary needs.

Scout Adult Leader Position Training

Scout Leader Position Specific Training is required for each adult and is designed to give current leaders and leaders changing positions the knowledge and skills necessary to be successful in their position. The training brings together the basics of Scout Adult Leadership for each of the Adult positions in separate courses –Cubmaster, Assistant Cubmaster, Den Leaders, Pack Committee, Scoutmaster and Assistant Scoutmaster, Troop Committee and Committee Chair, Merit badge Counselor, Venturing Adult Leaders and Committee members, Chartered Organization Representatives, Unit Commissioners, and Sea Scout Adult Leaders.

Every young person in the Scouting Program needs and deserves a trained leader who understands how to deliver the aims of the program with enthusiasm and fun.

WHERE: First United Methodist Church, 120 Greene St. NE., Huntsville,
