{"id":884,"date":"2021-10-21T16:20:54","date_gmt":"2021-10-21T21:20:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/talakto.org\/?p=884"},"modified":"2021-10-21T16:20:56","modified_gmt":"2021-10-21T21:20:56","slug":"scouting-for-food-reminders","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/talakto.org\/index.php\/2021\/10\/21\/scouting-for-food-reminders\/","title":{"rendered":"Scouting For Food &#8211; reminders"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Talakto Scouters,\u00a0<br>\u00a0<br>As a reminder, the <strong>Scouting for Food<\/strong> (SFF) campaign will kick-off next month.\u00a0 <strong>Saturday, 6 November<\/strong>, is when you will distribute door hangars in your neighborhood. On <strong>Saturday, 13 November<\/strong>, you would then go back to those same neighborhoods and pick up the bags of food for those households which choose to participate.\u00a0 No knocking on doors required at all.\u00a0 Just leave the door hangars one week and pick up food the next week for bags left outside their doors.<br>\u00a0<br>\u00a0<br>Participation in Scouting for Food DOES count for service hours for scouts needing hours for rank credit.\u00a0 Of course, don&#8217;t just do it for the rank, but do it because it is a great cause! Plus, those who participate will earn a special patch, as well as a 2021 metal pin.\u00a0 There will be a new metal pin each year you participate. Units which support SFF will also earn a participation ribbon for their unit flag.\u00a0 If your unit is doing other civic service activities during the year, make sure you add the SFF total to your overall community service hours total for the year.\u00a0 What a deal!<br>\u00a0<br>In order to get the patches, pins, and ribbon, unity will need to register at the council website at\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/talakto.us18.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=2c76f2fe38d472f73cbfff645&amp;id=c7c598a57e&amp;e=3a7b745a5e\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Scouting for Food &#8211; Greater Alabama Council (1bsa.org)<\/a>.\u00a0 You will see a registration tab.\u00a0<br>\u00a0<br>Door hangars will be available at the Scout\u00a0 office on Drake for those units who register.\u00a0 We will also have them available at the next Roundtable on Thursday, 4 November.<br>\u00a0<br>Specific food drop-off locations times for all the bags you collect will be sent out as soon as we know, although I have been told that the North Alabama Food Bank will have a truck located at the Scout office on Drake Avenue on Saturday, 13 November.
